The Roger Gallagher Scholarship for Entrepreneurs awards $1,000 annually to one undergraduate student who demonstrates entrepreneurial thinking, intellectual curiosity, and a commitment to building businesses or careers defined by innovation and value creation. This scholarship is not limited to business majors—it’s open to any undergraduate student at an accredited college or university who is pursuing an entrepreneurial path, whether through launching a startup, joining an early-stage company, or developing the mindset and skills required to create meaningful ventures.

Scholarship Overview

The selection process is based on a written essay that challenges applicants to articulate their entrepreneurial philosophy and demonstrate critical thinking about business, risk, and long-term value creation. We're looking for students who write clearly, think independently, and understand that sustainable success is built on relationships, resilience, and integrity—not hype or shortcuts. The award is merit-based, and the $1,000 scholarship can be used toward tuition, books, living expenses, or any educational need.

Criteria

To be eligible for the Roger Gallagher Scholarship for Entrepreneurs, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at an accredited college or university in the United States
  • Pursuing a career path in entrepreneurship, innovation, or business building (all majors welcome)
  • In good academic standing at your institution
  • Able to provide proof of enrollment upon request

Essay Prompt:

Submit a 750–1,000 word essay responding to the following prompt:

“Entrepreneurship is often romanticized as disruption, innovation, and rapid growth. But sustainable businesses are rarely built on hype—they’re built on relationships, disciplined execution, and long-term thinking. Reflect on a business, founder, or entrepreneurial principle that embodies this philosophy. What lessons have you drawn from it, and how will those lessons inform the way you approach building value in your own career or ventures?”

Evaluation Criteria:

  • Originality and depth of insight
  • Clarity and quality of writing
  • Demonstration of entrepreneurial mindset and critical thinking
  • Reflection on long-term value creation, relationships, and integrity
